Siddharth Parasnis’ works are inspired by a vast archive of architectural images that he collects during his travels. He translates the rustic architectural structures on to the canvas, abstracting and simplifying them in order to strike a balance between likeness and abstraction. Parasnis’ work resonates on both an abstract and representational level, which makes them familiar and foreign at the same time.
Parasnis has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world. He is the recipient of a 2102-13 Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and has been featured in publications including The Huffington Post, Art Ltd., ARTWORKS, and American Art Collector. Parasnis’s work has been included in exhibitions at the Crocker Art Museum, Bakersfield Museum of Art, Coos Art Museum and the Art Museum of Los Gatos. Siddharth Parasnis’s works are held in permanent collections in many corporate and public collections including Zukerburg Gereral Hospital, San Francisco; Dell Foundation, Austin, TX; Galesburg Civic Art Center, Galesburg, IL; South Central Cultural Zone Center, Nagpur, India; and The Kidney Group, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
The Shipyard Trust for the Arts (STAR) is pleased to honor Siddharth Parasnis as the 2016-17 Hunters Point Shipyard Artist in Residence.
